It wont be like this for long...

So one day I was talking to Jennifer from work and she was telling me about this song that she had heard that made her think of James and I.  I looked up the lyrics and emailed them to James, but that was a while ago.  Then today, we were listening to this song again and James was saying how much he liked it, and thought we'd give a shout out to all our fellow dental students.  Here are the lyrics, and it is now the song that plays when you look at our blog.

He didn't have to wake up
He'd been up all night
Layin’ there in bed listenin’
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK

It won’t be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laughin’
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
‘Cause it won't be like this for long

Four years later ‘bout 4:30
She's crawling in their bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now don't you worry
This’ll only last a week or two

It won’t be like this for long
One day soon you'll drop her off
And she won’t even know you're gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It won’t be like this for long

Some day soon she'll be a teenager
And at times he'll think she hates him
Then he'll walk her down the aisle
And he'll raise her veil
But right now she's up and cryin’
And the truth is that he don't mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers

He lays down there beside her
‘Til her eyes are finally closed
And just watchin’ her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows

It won’t be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah, this phase is gonna fly by
So, he's tryin’ to hold on

‘Cause it won’t be like this for long

It won’t be like this for long

Easter

Lexie and I have had a busy week.  We flew to Utah last Tuesday, Grandpa Shupe's wedding was Wednesday, drove to Idaho Thursday, Rosie and Brandon's graduation was Friday, drove back to Utah Saturday, Easter Sunday, then Monday we flew back to Columbus.  Here are a few pictures:

Lexie finally got to meet her great grandparents on my dad's side.  They live in Colorado and this is the first time I got to see them since James and I got married!
Here's my dad, me, Grandma Gingie, Lexie, and Grandpa Pete:
I thought it was pretty cool Rosie and Brandon graduated together.  Rosie got her Bachelors in Nursing and Brandon got his Bachelors in Agricultural Business Science and Technology
This is my Grandpa Shupe and Gayla.  They got married April 8th at the Maddox in Perry, Utah and are currently on their honeymoon in Mexico.

Even though it's faster to crawl, Lexie would rather walk everywhere. The other day I was in the kitchen, and I walked out to find this:Lexie will walk along the ottoman, the couch, and the wall, until she can't go any further. Usually by then she will just crawl the rest of the way, but I walked into the room before she had a chance to crawl into the kitchen so when she saw me, she just cried for me to pick her up.
I was loading the dishwasher this morning and Lexie decided to come over and help by unloading some of the dishes. It was kind of cute until she pulled out a dirty spoon and started sucking on it.
Yesterday we watched cute baby Nolan. I did my best to keep Lexie from beating up on him, but she is quite the bully. He was a good sport and smiled a lot for us though.

They both took two hour naps at the same time...I think that was just lucky. When Lexie woke up, I laid her next to him and she grabbed onto his clothes and held onto him the whole time she was eating. It was pretty funny.

Lexie is such a little monkey. If James or I are lying on the floor, she will just crawl over us to get where she wants to go. She stands herself up on everything and will bounce like crazy. She has so much energy! Sometimes I will go to get her when she wakes up from a nap and she will be so excited to see me that she will kick her legs so hard her whole body flies up and down. She definitely knows how to make us laugh.

More Florida

Chase and James drove the majority of the way down and back....Here we are driving during rush hour in Atlanta, GA: I left Lexie with James while I stood in line to get our food and this is what happens...
(look at the floor)

Oh, but first she spilled the drink EVERYWHERE...And then James had to go back in line to buy us more food...Universal Studios was SOOOO much fun!!! James was even in a movie!! (not really, it was a ride) and his fellow actors were named Jack and Jimmy...we thought that was kind of funny cuz those are their real names!I had a blast on the Simpsons ride...it was a simulation roller coaster ride. We went to an animal show where they demonstrated tricks the animals do in movies. It was really entertaining! They had birds fly right over our heads, a cute pig, dogs, cat, racoon, a skunk!! and many more...it was so neat!Remember him? (Men in Black)There were a lot of rides that required 3d glasses...they were so amazing! We loved the Spiderman ride where he lands on the front of the car, and you also get dropped off the top of a building, but don't worry, he catches you at the bottom with his spider web!

We went on a boat ride with killer sharks in the water attacking our boat!

James, Lexie and I had a caricature drawn...it was fun to do, but we weren't too impressed with the picture...

The next day, we went to Islands of Adventure which is adjacent to Universal Studios. This is Seuss Landing, which was super cute!
We first got wet on this ride....(not Sherri though, she found a poncho in a trash can)...
And then me and the boys rode this ride....(and this other guy thought it was a good idea to take his shirt off....I doubt it stayed dry either!)

The hulk rollercoaster is behind us...Jurasic Park was a lot of fun too!Baby Swap was the best idea ever. It was so nice, almost everyone got to ride each ride twice. Thanks to everyone for helping to watch Lexie!

Back at the condo we watched t.v., hung out, played games, etc. etc. It was great!

The last day at Wet 'n Wild...And our last night we went to Kobe Steakhouse and it was so YUMMY!!

What a great trip...we're ready for the next one!
